Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method
Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method at DC Music. Thank you for your interest in the Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method. Mel Bay's Modern Guitar Method
Grade 1: The world's premier method for learning modern plectrum style guitar, time-tested and proven successful in building the theoretic and technical foundation needed to play in any style. All seven grades of this method are written in standard notation only to encourage better sight reading. In Grade 1, the student guitarist will learn to play solos, duets, scales, and chords in the keys of C, A minor, G and E minor. Even in Grade 1, the student is already exposed to the chord/melody concept of guitar performance. A supplementary study book entitled Grade 1 Studies, two different play-along CD recordings (pop and traditional), and a VHS or DVD video are available. The companion recordings feature Tommy Flint and William Bay playing in split-track format, with the solo parts performed on the right channel, and the accompaniment or second duet parts played on the left. The student can play along with the full recording, or tune out either channel and play the missing part.
Grade 2: Internationally acclaimed for its thoroughness, innovation, and ease of understanding, the Mel Bay Modern Guitar Method is the world's premier guitar course of instruction. This extremely popular method has been time tested and proven successful in building the technical proficiency needed to master music of any style. For those who have complete Grade 1, this second carefully graded volume contains valuable guitar studies, student/teacher duets, and elementary harmony studies. The emphasis is on picking technique and position playing. This level introduces the student to alternate picking, triplets, and the keys of F, D minor, D major, and B minor, as well as second position. There are also beneficial technical studies on thirds and right-hand picking technique.
Grade 3: Modern Guitar Method Grade 3 Mel Bay. Grade 3 of the internationally acclaimed Mel Bay Modern Guitar Method features wonderful, intermediate level guitar solos and studies. It will take the student through a carefully graded method of melody-chord and position playing. Triads and four-string chords are presented in numerous keys and positions.
